| Although haiku poems concern generally understood subjects, such as Life & Death, the Seasons, Nature, and Animals, it is the Poet's unique way of observing which attempts to raise the obvious from mundane to profound with a sympathetic, often melancholic, yet always realistic view.... and point. The original Japanese format consists of three lines of five, seven, and five syllables. Surprisingly, this terse format also works well using the English language. |
