Folk Art was very popular in the 1980's---especially in Santa Fe, New Mexico. In order to fill his many orders at the famous Doodlett's shop my craftsman friend, Ed Sprinkle, employed me to help him cut "Tin." * Simple, primitive, iconic shapes were designed and produced as quickly as possible. Whenever he caught me embellishing a design, he would remind me that extra detail was not practical, or profitable. Time has proven him right. |
| I did keep it simple for a while, making weathervanes and small standing pieces. But brown was boring, and COLOR---inevitable. |
| *Actually the metal used is steel. "Tin" is a metallic coating applied to steel to retard oxidation. |
