Mineralized ivory is a more accurate term than Fossil Ivory. Walrus tusk, buried for up to 5,000 years, absorbs minerals from the soil which eventually colors it in a range from golden through chocolate browns and black. Real fossil stone would be difficult to carve---even with the Foredom Drill used on this piece. |
