This ugly, unloved space just happened
to be located at the gate
of Pita Maha, the King of Ubud's
Five Star Tjampuhan Hotel.
With help from Gede Swastika
and our expert village craftsmen
we were able to make it into a gallery
worthy of its prestigious
Jalan Raya (Main Avenue) location.
Later, with Dewa Darsana's help
I started a jewelry business and
and opened it next door.
Flushed with success,
and with the assistance of my friend
Pak Made Sandi,
I opened an adjunct shop down the street.
at Sunrise Villas.
We became increasingly successful,
until the 2008 financial meltdown,
and closed in 2010.
